Workstation Error

“Help desk, how can I help you?”

“Hi there, I walked away from my desk for like 15 minutes, and I haven’t been able to log back into my computer…”

“Did you enter your password correctly?”

“Yes, of course.”

“But you can’t log in?”

“No, I keep receiving an error message.”

“What does the message say?”

“This workstation does not have a recognized, trusted relationship with the server. Did I get fired or something in the last 15 minutes?”

“Haha, no no your profile is active.  You’re sure you entered your password correctly?”

“YES! And this is not a password error.”

“Why don’t you restart your computer and see if you still get the error?”

“I did that already.”

“Well, do it again.  I’m resetting your password just to be sure. Log in with this password after you re-boot.”

“Okay.”

One minute later….

“Um, I’m getting the same message when I try to log-in.”

“Well, I’m stumped.  I’ll have to escalate this. It’s almost 5 o’clock.  You probably won’t get a resolution until tomorrow.  Think you’ll be okay?”

“Well, not much I can do.  It’s month end close and I’m swamped with ad-hocs, but hey life goes on.”

“Sorry about that, well I just logged a ticket. You’ll get a call from a tech tomorrow morning.”

To be continued…

  1. Don’t you wish you had that tech option/message like the one you get when you call support – “this message will be recorded for whatever….” To give your superiors when they complain you didn’t work long/hard/fast enough…

    • No kidding! Funny how those same “superiors” can use those excuses and get away with it…because they can pass their work back to someone like me when they have “technical” issues.
